Sit in Comfort: How to Keep Your Neck & Shoulders Happy When You Sit (chair 2019)

Is getting up out of a chair harder than it used to be? Do you spend more than a couple hours sitting each day? If so, this series is for you!

Sitting with poor alignment means muscles and tissues work overtime to do the job your bones are designed for. This leads to the all-too-familiar pain, tension and fatigue in your neck, shoulders and/or back.

And as we age, standing from a chair can require a lot effort. You might find yourself holding your breath, pushing with your arms and straining your muscles.

When you know how to align yourself properly and use your weight effectively in gravity, sitting and getting out of your seat can become much simpler and comfortable.

In this class you’ll discover how to:

  • Avoid common mistakes people make when sitting and getting up that create strain
  • Align yourself when sitting so your skeleton supports you, alleviating tension and strain in your neck and shoulders
  • Use counterbalance to get up from your chair with more grace and ease

This class is primarily done sitting in a chair. Everyone welcome, including wheel chair users.

Class Meets 4 Tuesdays: 10/29, 11/5, 11/12 & 11/19 (no class 11/26)
