Did you know what happens in your low back directly impacts the comfort of your neck and shoulders?
When your low back is painful, tense or not moving smoothly, your lumbar spine isn’t able to provide its usual support and shock absorption. This increases demand on places higher up—like your upper back, neck and shoulders—often resulting in stiffness, strain and injury.
Whether you have intermittent or chronic low back problems, chances are that ways you sit, stand and move are contributing to your discomfort. In this series, you’ll discover how to:
- Use your hip joints when you bend, reach and lift to reduce strain in your low back, as well as your neck and shoulders
- Align your whole skeleton for better support (& better posture!) so your back, neck and shoulder muscles don’t have to work so hard
- Distribute movement through your whole spine for greater comfort and flexibility
Come lighten the load on your low back, and in turn, bring more ease to your neck and shoulders.
This class is primarily done sitting in chairs. Everyone welcome, including wheelchair users.
Class Meets 4 Tuesdays: August 4, 11, 18 & 25
